The Challenge
The team were tasked to provide team building with an emphasis on doing something different. The outcome was for the clients to come away with some "Real life skills".
What we did
We were pleased to deliver a half-day Save a Life (SAL) team-building session for Kellas Midstream at Meldrum House, Aberdeenshire, led by Mike Hope and Colin Crookston.
Focused on building confidence, teamwork and clear communication under pressure, the session gave participants practical experience in responding effectively during emergency situations.
The programme covered essential first-response skills, including scene management, bleeding control, breathing support and casualty care.
Delegates then worked through a multi-casualty road traffic collision scenario, managing the scene, making life-saving decisions, prioritising casualty care and requesting emergency assistance. The exercise demanded quick thinking, effective delegation and clear, precise communication throughout.
"Although a hard hitting subject, I found it valuable and memorable, well presented, engaging and like the practical elements putting you out of your comfort zone."
The Outcome
Every participant took an active role, and the key takeaway was clear: communication is easy until pressure rises. In a crisis, clarity matters. One simple question during the scenario made that point perfectly: how many ambulances had been called, and how many were actually needed?
What the client had to say:
"Really enjoyed it and feel like I have learned some great life skills."
Sandstone Training outcome was to give the delegates some life skills and to get them to remember:
COMMUNICATE COMMUNICATE COMMUNICATE
